Meeting too early

I was looking at my calendar for next week and saw that I start off the week with a 7 a.m. meeting of the White County Travel Authority. That time is really not convient for most of the public, because some people like myself don't get up usually until that time. I always thought the government was by the people and FOR the people. This time isn't FOR the people. In fact, the president of the travel authority, Ken Houston, was about 15 minutes late to a meeting earlier this year. Then at the last meeting, John Heimlich walked out at 8 because he had another meeting. So the time isn't even convenient for the people on the board. If you'd like to see that time changed to something more reasonable, send an email to the president of the board at mayor@monticelloin.gov. Or at least let me know at the magazine.

Lighthouse Lodge

Go out to the Lighthouse Lodge B&B for FREE breakfast on May 16. Now that I have your attention, I wanted to tell you about the lodge's grand opening of a cottage that's been equipped to handle the handicapped and disabled. Mike and Bonnie Triplett purchased the cottage to provide one for families who needed it. After breakfast, enjoy a tour of the cottage and a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. by the Greater Monticello Chamber of Commerce.
